hey guys, ive heard alot of things about this pedal, is it really what they say it is, or does it give that old vintage sound ? someone please reply and if possible post an audi clip of it, thanks alott
If you want a vintage-sounding overdrive pedal, Marshall Marshall Marshall!
I have the old Drivemaster, I bought it for £25 clearance when they were discontinued. At the time I was using a 1960s WEM that I pulled out of a biffa bin - the valves were shot, the controls were falling apart, and the front of the cab was ripped to shreds, but the pedal made it sound like a Marshall Stack!
Drivemasters are discontinued as I've mentioned, but I believe the Guvnor/GV-2 will do a similar job.
They review that pedal in the september issue of guitar world(the one with zakk wylde, kerry king and jeff hanneman on the cover). They give you sound samples on the cd on various settings. It's a good pedal.
I haven't played it yet, but from what I hear it's pretty much the best metal distortion since the Metal Zone. Not so much for vintage sounds as I understang, but whet the hell, give it a shot anyway!
