distortion with my RNC - anyone else?

i like my RNC and have had it awhile, but over the last few days i've been getting some high-end distortion (like, sometimes you might even TRY to get something like this sizzly sound) when tracking drums through the thing.

i'm presonus mp20 - RNC - VS1680 with my overheads, and getting this distortion and it's driving me nuts.

what's making me even more nuts is that it seems to be more in the RIGHT channel only.

the right mic was not right up on some cymbal that the other mic wasn't.

anyone get this distortion with the RNC?

I have two. Never had any problem with either one.

the FMR guys say that if you're having problems with low end distortion you should increase the release time until it goes away. This is due the very fast release time the compressor has.
I know it doesn't look like the problem you have, but you can give it a try.
Did you check with new cables?
