Distortion, reverb and rock and roll.

Here is a song where I played all the instruments and recorded it.

Interestingly I used only two room mics (AT 4047s) about 3.5 feet off the ground in front of the kit, and spaced about 4 feet apart. It was a new technique for me and I think it works surprisingly well. The reason I did that was that I was trying to bang this off as quickly as possible. I wrote the chords and melody in about 15 minutes and then set up a click and then got a drum track on the 3rd take. Everything was under 3 takes I think (although I comped things a little bit).

Anyhow, I threw a ton of reverb and distortion on just about everything in mixdown. Too much? I can't really tell because I am mixing on crappy monitors.

Meh, not terrible. The drums sound pretty bad. Use those room mics in a more conventional overhead setup.
