I can't figure out where the distortion is coming form on my 003. It happens when tracking instruments. My guitar tracks are clipping even though the input gain is only peaking somewhere around -12dbfs.
It seems like the levels look like theyre being limited to a certain point. But the signal isn't clipping visually, just sonically. It sounds like a regular clipping noise on top of the guitar, even though it looks like it should be tracking right.
Whats going wrong? It doesnt seem to be in my preamp? I've tried 3 different pre's and they all had the clipping, so it's not the pre's. I tried two mic's, so it's not the mic. I've tried two mic cables! Is there something going wrong with my conversion?
