Hi
I play through an Ampeg V-4 head that I got a few months ago. Last night, I finally got around to looking at the BACK of the head. Well, first thing I noticed was that there's an outlet on the back that I can plug the AC adaptor for my pedals into! Holy shit!
But also there's a jack for a pedal. I had always wondered why there was a distortion knob for channel one which didn't seem to do anything. Is it because there needs to be a pedal plugged in to turn the distortion on? What kind of pedal would this be? Would the generic pedals that they sell at guitar stores work, or would it be an Ampeg-specific pedal (the input is for a 1/4-inch jack)? I don't remember what year my amp is from, but I want to say late '70's or early '80's.
Please help!

Yes, you've got to buy (if it doesn't come with the amp) a pedal that will switch between Channel 1 and 2. (Clean and Drive). Ask a sales person in a store near you to find the one you could use, but actually thay all work the same way...

Aaaaah, the Ampeg V4. I love that amp. There's something about those massive 7027 tubes. Loud as f*ck, but what a great sound.
