from what ive read.....
from what ive read everywhere, no. a lot of experts agree that industry is in the stages of a 20 year war on loudness.....its a my dick is bigger than yours thing at the jukebox...loudness is sound QUANTITY...more meter swing is sounbd QUALITY...i tried this from a book and its true...i have a copy of a CD i bought recently...made last year...my buddy has the same CD from 15 years ago....we listened to both, same track, same everything...the old one is quieter at same volume, noticably so, but theres more swing on the meters...and it sounds better.
mixing is hard enough, without worrying about mastering house issues. Thats for the final press guys.....who have special equipment and experience with it, and even they tend to squash the life out of everything. I read an article from a pro mixer just BEGGING the industry to quit, theyre making square waves!!
record bigger swings, that sound better...let the electricity and the volume knob do the work of loudness later.
remember loudness is quantity...meter swing is quality....unless youre a mastering house professional, and even then they are squashing stuff.
