Hi All: Outside my basement studio is about 800 sq feet of open space. the floor is concrete, the walls cinderblock and the ceiling wood. I placed a princeton reverb reissue amp (sitting on a tom drum case) outside the studio and placed an AKG C414 about 5 feet in front of the amp at mid speaker level. the akg has 4 different pickup paterns. I set it to the full circle setting. To date, I have had the amp in my little studio room, mic'd about 3" off the center of the speaker, and had it on closest pickup setting to help with picking up to much of the drums, cymbal, harp, and vocals. I dug the open sound it got. Any other tips about distant micing? You can hear the song below. It is called "she does everything a man likes twice" Thanks. Walter
