Slack, MAN! I love this. Me and my wife got a kick out of that line that PG mentioned ("they can bury me in myself"). Clever clever. I like that.

I agree about the bass line... just a little more to it would be nice, but that's about it... either way, good tune.

I like the vocals... Kind of sounds like a beat-down and drunken blend of the Springer, Cochran (spelling?), and Dylan... (no offense - I like it)...

I think it has all been said before. Excellent song though.

It's not really my music, but i think it is really good. Dylan comes to mind. Everything fits together really well, your voice particulary i only wish i could sing. i think that was a day from work well deserved. An inspiration needs following up cause they can quickly go and can be few and far between.

Hey, I can understand that... Most of the time, if I haven't had a few beers in me, when I sing out in public, my freakin' face twitches... What the hell is that? Pisses me off.

Also, when I'm playing out in public, again, if I'm not somewhat loaded, I have bad nervous shakes in my legs during the beginning of a gig (mind you I haven't gigged in years, so I may not be so shakey now that life has had a chance to make me numb - haha). But anyway, my legs would shake so bad in the beginning of a gig, that my foot would completely miss any of my effects pedals for my guitar... I'd literally have to throw my foot up in the air and stomp down with great speed and force upon the pedal of choice to bypass the shaking... weird eh... Okay, just sharing nervous stories with you.

I've played guitar sort of in the background with some other guys at some open mic shows a few times.....as long as I just look down at the guitar I'm ok. Singing I could never ever do.

In fact...after I've been singing at home I will NOT go outside for several hours afterwards...just in case somebody out there heard me.

Thanks man. I'm getting a lot of mixed feed back on the vocals...from "very good" to "ok" to "hmm" to "ha ha".

I'm not sure how to take it. It's funny because if 10 people tell you that they like something, it only takes one person to dislike and all the sudden you begin second guessing yourself. I should rephrase that, "I begin second guessing myself." I sent this song to my dad and he dissed the vocals...very humiliating indeed. So now when I listen to it I only hear the flaws... where at first I thought I was really on to something.

This is the only voice I got though so I guess I have to use it until I can borrow someone else's.

Don't listen to them!

If anyone tells you the vocals are crap just don't listen to them because I am TELLING you that they are excellent. They convey emotion superbly. If you (plural) are not a natural singer then even if you can get some down you are probably your biggest criticiser, I will record a line of my distorted muffled vocals and loop it for a bit thinking it sounds really good and I am all pleased that I have some vocals down, when I come back to it and "AAAAAhhhhhhh oh my god that sounds shit" and then permanantly delete it!

But yeah your vocals/lyrics are excellent don't doubt yourself.

You can't boil it down any more than that.
Nice flow too, goes into the electric break cleanly.
That tune just works.

Slack, a few thoughts-

It's a great line, phrased perfectly.

Don't stop there. Fix the bass performance and develop the rest of the song a litttle more. (Yes, I like it the way it is, but you have a choice between it being just-a-guy-great and Aaron-Cheney-great.)

You can't please everybody. Noone can. And you're not doing this to please people anyway (yes, you want to reach people and get positive feedback, but your goal is to share your music and stuff like that).

Your voice works great in this song and can definitely work generally. Afraid to perform? Keep in mind that EVERYBODY is afraid to perform. Really. Everybody. Very afraid. What's the absolute worst thing that can happen it you put yourself out there? Right. So fuck it and get out there and express yourself and don't end up sorry that you never did.

Face it, you can sing. Now get it off the excuse list . Seriously... don't overanalyze it, the vocals work great. I liked the lazy feel the bass track gives. I'd vote to leave it as is unless it really annoys you. I don't know if re-cutting it would make things "better", just different I suppose. It's a good song, I hope ya got dozens more where that came from.
