How do I get Direct X effects from some of my other programs to be used with PA9? The documentation doesn't really have anything to say on the subject. Thanks

directx plugins are system-wide resources, once installed they should appear in any applications that support them.

That is not entirely true. Some DiretX effects are application specific. Som ACID Pro effects do not work within Sonar.

that's the difference between an application feature that uses the DirectX API to effect a Wave, and a Direct-X plug-in.

That answers my questions for sure, Samplitude recognizes my Cakewalk effects although Cubasis does not, but Cakewalk doesn't recognize Samplitudes or any of my other programs utilizing Direct X effects. And Samplitude didn't pickup my Wavelab Lite DirectX effects either.

It just must be how they are coded. Thanks for answering my question.

Some FX set several different patches for their release. DirectX for general Windows audio applications, VST for Cubase, SAW for SAW products line, Winamp for used in winamp, etc...

It works two ways. Try and use your Sonar DX8 plugins in any other app.

In my case the plugins show up in Wavelab, but whenever you try and use them you only get an error message.

all the cakewalk dx8 plugs seem to work for me in Cooledit 2k.
