Directing mics from XLR inputs to a certain track?

Alright, you know how the TASCAM 414 MKII has two XLR inputs? Say I use the 2 inputs to record my drums on two separate tracks, with 2 mics. Is there a way to control which input those mics go into? Like, could I have them go on track 1 and 2, or track 2 and 4, etc? And when overdubbing, once I have a drum track down on say tracks 1 and 2, can I use the same mic through the same XLR input and direct it to channel 3, since drum tracks are on 1 and 2?

How does this work?

Thanks

How it works is, each of the XLR inputs have a label, L and R. When you set the input of a track to mic/line, it will use the 1/4" input at the front, and if nothing is plugged in it will use the XLR in.

Tracks 1 and 3 use XLR input L, and tracks 2 and 4 use XLR input R. So using the two XLR inputs you can record to tracks 1 and 2, OR 3 and 4.

So if you record drums onto tracks 1 and 2. You can use XLR in L to record something else to track 3, or use XLR R to record to track 4.
