Direct to Delta 1010 or via Macki HUI to Delta?

My new guitar preamp (Prophesy II currently on order) has direct record out via XLR - this suits me for recording at night. Would you recommend that I go via XLR to my Mackie HUI then out to the Delta 1010 or direct from the Prophesy XLR to the 1/4 inch in on the Delta 1010? Does it make a difference? Is the signal likely to be comprimised by going through the HUI to the Delta? I currently run my guitar through a Palmer PDI-03 and direct into the Delta 1010 bypassing the HUI which I use exclusively as a controller. Should I keep things this way or is through the HUi the way to go? Basic noob question I know... :o

I'd think it wouldn't be good to add an unnecessary analog stage in there (probably just some signal degredation and noise), but hell, why not try it out and see how it sounds-- if it sounds better do it!
I've heard those Palmers are awesome-- wouldn't that still sound better to use than an effects unit's speaker emulation? Could you use them together?

I'll certainly be trying the Palmer and the Prophesy together but the Prophecy is one of the only units out there that actually has a kick ass speaker sim built in. To use the Palmer I will have to drive the signal through a poweramp - the old Simul-Class 2:90 should do the trick there. Only problem is the Palmer unit is mono.... so I would loose all stereo effects and I don't fancy buying another one for the second channel! I was thinking the signal might be affected via the HUI alright but I'll try it out all the same. Cheers!

yeah i dig my onyx, but mackie haters always say that because it's not a passive path and because it's mackie, it messes up the sound. i'm sure there's truth to that. sounds like you have an awesome guitar rig!
