Direct recording?

I'm trying to find out how to record my guitar directly on my Pc. I'm using a Pentium 2 system and have a line in on my sound card.
Can i plug my guitar into my Marshall amp (VS265 )and then connect this to the line-in on my PC using the Filtered DI output from the back of the amp?????? Or do ihave to go through a mixer amp that i use for gigging?
Can anyone guide this fool through the connection process PLEASE!
p.s. I can tie my own shoe laces.
 
Seek for the line level and the holy grail will be revealed to you. Your Sword in the Stone will be an adapter cable with appropriate plug styles/sizes to connect the line level source you've found directly to the line in on your soundcard.

Does that mean that I must bow and pray to the "religious" representative and that holy chapel called "Radio Shack"? If it does, I am jumping off a bridge (many to choose from here in Portland Or.)... :)
