Which CD recorder would you recommend for recording directly from the BR-8.

This is the same question I've been asking, Steve, at http://br8page/editthispage.com. Which stand alone cd recorder might best mate with my BR8? I've seen maybe half a dozen replies and I've come to the astounding conclusion that almost everything is going to work. It is simply a matter of picking the best model you can afford.

The Philips cdr770 has been widely advertised at around $350 but on epinions and / or eacoustics I've seen a couple of posts that slagged it for glitches and lack of company support. I've also seen posts from users who had no problems with the 770 whatever.

Me, Im going to save more money and go with a Yamaha or Sony.

Bon chance!

Basically any CD recorder with an optical digital input will work.

QUALITY SOUND LOSS

I AM NEW TO RECORDING, PLEASE PUT UP WITH MY QUESTIONS.
HOW MUCH QUALITY AM I ACTUALLY LOSING WHEN I RECORD TO CASSETTE FROM MY BR-8 INSTEAD OF A CD RECORDER? WHICH CD RECORDER HAVE YOU HAD THE BEST RESULTS WITH. PRICE IS NO CONCERN.

THANKS

OLD MAN STEVE

Unless you're talking about a very expensive cassette machine, CDR will sound alot better. Plus it's really hard to play those cassettes in a CD player..... :)
While the write-once format of CDR at first may seem to be a drawback of the medium- it really is comforting to know that you've got a permanent copy. If you're squeamish about making that transition, CDRW will fill the gap until you're comfortable with the permanence of CDR. They're pretty cheap as well. Still cheaper than even a half-assed quality cassette.
The TASCAM CDRW-5000 is only a little more than the Philips unit since it's been discontinued, but you can still find them. It has a lot more flexibility as to I/O formats and is rock-solid. I can't think of one glitch I've seen.
