I was wondering if anyone would be willing to explain a Direct Box to me. Currently have a band with a pretty powerful PA for Mains and Monitors. Our BassPlayer has a Really Bad Amp and we were looking to put him directly into the Mackie Mixer. We do not have a Sub so would getting a Direct Box and Pluggin him that way be the best solution? Thanks :-)

A direct box sounds like just the thing for you.

It BASICALLY takes the line from his guitar... and splits it into a XLR send (to your mixer) as well as a 1/4 out (to his amp... for monitoring)

There are certainly more technical details... but you dont need them.

A Passive DI with a Ground Loop switch would probly do fine for you.

You will NOT be able to use any effects from his amp this way, however....unless you run ot of the amp.

perfect.

i use the sansamp bass DI box.

the soundman at the club this week used a countryman on our bass player and it sounded great.
