I know very little about mid-priced basses (guitar player here...), but I'm finding that trying to record a 'rock bass' with a keyboard...just isn't natural for me, and sounds like crap LOL.

I'm a lefty, and I love Geddy Lee (uh, FWIW, never paid much attention to his gear), and THIS bass is available:

Does anyone have a good or bad opinion on it?

Thanks Guys:)
Shawn

If you want the early "Geddy sound" you will need to buy a Rickenbacker 4001

Not sure what he plays now.

Thanks:)

Well, I'm not particularly worried about getting Geddy Lee's sound, just curious if Dillon's in general have a decent rep.

I just want something half-decent to record with, and since I'm not a bass player, I'm at a bit of a disadvantage with the brands outside Fender and the obviously expensive models.

I'm hoping as well I can get a SansAmp for bass (?) and go straight into my TC G-Force...

Just curious about this particular brand, your experiences...

Shawn

I've never heard of Dillon. I do have the bass I've allways associated with Geddy, eh?

Come to think of it, I do remember seeing Geddy with something like that LOL.

I'll be using a (sigh) pick probably, so I'm not justified spending wads of cash here LOL.

Nice bass:)

Geddy doesn't play a Dillon bass....
besides Ric basses he uses real Fender basses...
Playing the same bass as Geddy will not make you sound like Geddy anyway...
Playing style, pickups and amps make most of the difference...
I know I used to have a Ric 4001 bass cuz I too liked Geddy's sound... I sounded NOTHING like Geddy Lee...LOL

:)

OK Fine, I'll get a, uh, P or Jazz???

(Used, non vintage, hopefully Japanese).

you can get a standard jazz with maple neck and put a Badass bridge on it. If I were gonna trick it, I`d go for adding a brass nut on it as well.
