Can anyone tell me the best digital workstation under 2000.00? I've been looking at Roland.
 
My friend has the Roland 2400...it is ok but its just bunch of gimmicky stuff that really won't even be used plus its way over priced.

I have the Korg D3200 $1300 brand new its a beast 16 tracks simulataneous at 16 bit with 32 track play back or 24bit with 12 simultaneous recording 16 track play back.

Nice sounding effects and very very easy to use...i have had no complaints.

the one thing Roland has over Korg is the computer monitor out which allows you to view everything on a computer monitor but the Korg screen works fine...its just a little small but no big deal.
 
The BR 1200 comes with demo songs in it...go to a store and fiddle with it to see if you like how it funtions and they're getting pretty cheap.
 
I don't know what they go for these days, but I love my Roland 2480. 8 XLR in with phantom power. 16 analog inputs total all with preamps. 2 stereo digital inputs. 16 track simultaneous recording at 24 bit. 24 track playback at 24 bit. Motorized faders. Never given me a mechanical/electrical problem and I bought it on release day.

Here's a bit of a live show performed by Lauren Hart that I did in Philly. Recorded live to 16 track and mixed after the fact at home all with the 2480.



Here's a demo I did for a local pop band called Chase Her:


Most of my studio stuff is not on line...and my favorites are tied up with a record company (demos for a band that hit it big). But both of those are pure 2480. They're not "raw" mixes, but any post mix EQ and limiting on the tracks was also done with the 2480.

The Chase Her demo was also done in a regular room in a regular house with budget mics (most expensive was a Studio Projects C1).

wow good stuff. I liked the live track. I dig the music as well. Thanks I think I know what to do now.
 
Doh! looks like the Chase Her link is down. I'll have to upload that one again sooner or later...

But yeah, you get the idea from the live track. That was a fun show to do. :)
