digital splicing

I don't know anything about your software, but I use Cakewalk and there is a splicing aid that allows spliting the waveform just as it is crossing the zero amplitude line. It grabs it much more accurately than is humanly possible. Check to see if your software has it and turn it on. This may help.
 
I've got a digital piano take I've fed into my computer and I'm trying to clean it up. (slight delays, bad note I'm going to cut and paste int) - In my old analog days (from radio) - I just used a razor and spliced the tape. No problem. Now when I try it with digital, I'm getting a slight pop or crackle at the edit.

Am I just cutting parts that are too different? I'm having better look by going to the deepest resolution and only snipping where I see the wave channels are at 0, and do the same to the other side. Maybe it's my software. (Creative Wav. Editor and a demo of Goldwave) -

I'm just curious if I'm missing something. Like I say, I spent two years splicing reel to reel's. Maybe there's an interpolation setting or something that works and doesn't suck that I am missing. Thanks.
