what up,im new to this group but not new to the website, im trying to learn how to do digital recording on my own from my pc. ive been doing recording for years but i usually go to the studio but im away from home and want to start my own thing. now for the breakdown... im using a amd/athlon comp which has nothing on it and is basically fast but *its not a pentium*, also i have a cheap mic but investing in a mic around 400-500 dollars in a few weeks. im using cool edit 96 basically because im used to it and know how.I record using one mic and a comp but what i cant do is get the sound right. it comes out sounding like a live freestyle at hot 97 radio station . i cant get that right.. i just need some help with a cheap way on what to get ,product wise, mic wise and settings and if there is anyone with soooo much knowledge that could hook a brother up i would appreciate it. i got a good souncard and 64mb ram but my mixtapes sound like snakes hissing and i cant get it out . once i get the sound good itll be ok , ..please help holla back

Upgrading your soundcard to a semi-pro consumer recording card such as the ones made by M-audio, Echo, Terratec or similar and you will have solved most of the problem.

Then you need to learn to record better...welcome to the BBS.
