I use Sonar,I have a guy that has a project started in Digital Performer and want to add some tracks with me. DP is Mac isnt it? I'm not. I'm PC and Sonar. What would be the best way to handle this,or can't it be.I guess I could just have him bring what he has done on a plain CD, as a music CD, and add the needed tracks to it,then have him import the new tracks to DP  ? Thanks,Jim

if you are able to save your project as an OMF file in Sonar you should be able to import the whole file. if for some reason you can't do that....i'd say just mixdown all your tracks individually as wave files, burn them to CD, and then import that into DP. To make things easy on you, you'll want to export everything on the track, even the blank parts of the tracks at the beginning or between audio files (if you split up the track). This way the computer doesn't ignore those blank parts and bounces it all down as one file. Then you can just go into DP import it and bring it to the beginning without having to line it up exactly with the other files. Make sense? Good, i'm glad.

I dont use DP. This guy started a project in DP somewhere else. He wants to bring in DP project and have me add new tracks to it. I use Sonar. I have Sonar 3 which enables me to import/export OMF. As I said, would the easiest way be to simply have him bring a CD of the music so far and let them cut new tracks in Sonar like he was playing to a CD? In other words ,use the DP music as a guide only for the new tracks, then whomever can import the waves file I would create back in DP.

oh i get ya this time...yeah should work fine. as long as the original session was recorded in 44.1. Otherwise you might run into some issues. It'll be just like a play along CD.

That what I thought, thanks. I can go 44.1,48, whatever .That should be the least of my problems. Do you think all of these software makers will ever become multicompatable? It would be nice.
