He said: "You gota be careful with this..."
He said: "That's why people use analog tape..."
He said: "You can hear..."
and what a voice!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds to me like the voice of Devil.
arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
:mad::D:mad::D:mad::D

The sound is Denser.
I dont think Denser is a word. You would say that it is "More Dense". At about 5:00 minutes in he starts talking about it being Denser.:D

Yeah right. How often do you see that? If ever. :D

“…and there’s been some pretty serious horror stories about people when they finally are finished with their mix, they look at the tape that they're playing back from and they can see through it.”
-Ken Andrews

OMG! This guy is hilarious! It’s about his age… from guys that had little to no experience with tape because digital was around that you hear this stuff… they have no f**king idea… but they’ve “Heard stuff about it.” Then again maybe he bought his tape from tapeandtape… :p

“You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.”

Exactly, and didn't digidesign, the protools people set this "test" up?

I'm not sure if this is my own paranoia or not but didn't you notice how they toned down the mood when analog was concerned, as in a darker more brooding picture and unflattered lighting and that they hyped up the sequences when digital was concerned, like a brighter picture, more twinking lights and more bells and whistles overall? The angle was certainly pro digital and what was laughable was the "tests". Did they listen straight from the source and I mean off of a tape master recorder / player and protools or did they mix both to a digital format? I think the latter. How's that for pseudoscience? What people don't get is once an analog tape is digitized, it's chopped up to pieces, sampled. You can't run tests like this.

BTW, a Christmas Story, is right up there with National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, as a fav movie!:):D

EXACTLY!.
And the guy was NOT joking.

I was kind of listening respectfully what that dude had to say, UNTILL the moment when he 'shared' "his" "horror story" with ah, so "unsophisticated" crowd of viewers, I've completely dismissed everything and anything he spewed out. Also I was lucky not having my mouth full of coffee at the moment (now, that would be a major mess all over the flat screen and beyond :D)
I would rather piss in my pants in public than appear in his pants on TV. That's beyond embarrassment.
Ten green faces - one red one.
:D:D:D:D:D - :o - :D:D:D:D:D
All I could think about at that point was, something like saying to him: "Turn out the light. The "Party" is over, ... for you anyway." :p

:p

ahhh, never mind, already.

And his book will be out in time for Christmas! :D:D:D

WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You made that?????!!!! That's funny as SH*T!!!! I have that stupid "Recording for Dummies" Book and it seems pretty much geared toward the Digital Doman. It's stupid because younger people who don't know about Analog (or Digital at such an early learning stage) get pre-conceived ideas that analog is outdated, Just by reading this crap! Think about it, this might be the only book their Mom or Aunt buys them because it's soooo available on Amazon.com!!!!!! BULL-SHYTE!!!!!!!!!:D

"See through tape in seven easy passes"

wah hah hah
good one
lol
:D

btw, have I ever mentioned: "You never know what you may learn from an Industry Pro" ?
;)

I don't know about that fool but I've never, ever came across a tape which was worn completely off of its oxide. That Mr. Ken Andrews is a wonderful story teller.:D:rolleyes:

I can't believe Dave Mustaine said that - what a moron!

If anything, it's easier to make any moron sound "good" on digital through editing, endless tracks, etc. Analog gives the best tonal possibilities, but you have to be able to perform in order for things to sound good!

I just got done watching most of the videos.

This "extreme punch" demo is retarded. How can you tell a difference between sounds when its that much of a volume difference.

Dave Mustaine is pretty stupid for saying that. He just said that cause he wanted to be on the up and up with technology. Idiot.

I'm glad they let steve albini talk even though it kinda ended up siding with digital. He's a genius. His production always sounds great.

I dont really like the freedom of all these edits. I mean I'm guilty as charged but digital is so ... cheesy.

I want an 8 track. God damn computer.

That is what is the most likely reason alot of people go with digital. As the saying goes "tape doesn't lie". I like tape for my audio and film in my cameras. Call me old fashioned.:D I've done some minor tinkering with digital (Sound Forge, Cakewalk) but it never excited me like my Tascam does. Even though I can't play any instruments, what I do manage to stumble with is more fun to capture on tape. Besides, one can't truly appreciate the "digital" realm without going through the "trial by fire" that is analog. As long as I have (or can find) machines and media for them, I'll be an analog user for a long time.;)
