its 2000 and now and u can buy a studio in a box, I don't have any outboard and I would like to b abel to finsih a compleate mix if possible within one box(realistik?) the 01v has it all, but its over a grand sh. so basicly it has come down to threse choices:
the Tascam TM-D1000, it only has 8 analouge ins and expanding it is expensiv, the fx r very basic , but it has a nice eq.
the Fostex VM200 aslo has 8anlouge ins, it sells new for $700 and judging from the specs its a very high quality desk but it only has 2fx with no extra audio prosessing, the 4band fully parametric eq is great (I'm sure one can gain alot of punch on tracks with such a flexible eq but I dunno if that can make up for digital compression?!
the Roland VM-3100pro looks plastiky/toyish but it has 12 analouge ins, cool fx and two compressors, the basic eq is a real turn off. but it just might b a great sounding desk! right now it just fit the bill & studio and I don't have to worry about expanding it so I'm leaning toward it (just worried that for a similar price I can get a way better desk (VM200!).
I don't work with digital multitrakerrs/pc's and I can live with 8 ins untill I expand my samplers outs, it will cost about $300 to expand the VM200 to analouge 16ins, wich almost brings it up a s/h price of an 01v, but I somhow doupt that the 01v will sound as good as the vm200, then again the o1v offers so much more. I'm on a very tight budget and a o1v is a overkill right now. the VM200 seams very professional, but I'd have to buy an xternal FX unit ($) to go with it. I really can't afford to make the wrong choice. I wiil sincerly apreciate all help on this issue.
many thanks in advance -Haz
