Oh REALLY????
hi,

so i got the whole a/d thing but am now standing before another challenge (?) the digital thing. is a spdif out seperable in channels ie do i need 16spdif channels on the soundcard when i want to import the 16 outputs of a promix seperatly ie on different tracks?
Could you name a sound crad which does that?

greetz&thanks guhlenn

if the "promix" you are talking about is that old mixer by yamaha... then you are screwed. That thing is junk, as far as DIGITAL mixers go. For your peice of mind, Id just consider it an advanced Analog mixer.

It has 1 SPIDIF out, right? Which means you could send a mixdown (2track) on that.. but you can not preserve individual tracks in the digital realm with that. You need a mixer with a digital MULTI out... like a light pipe or a TDIF jack.. SPIDIF wont cut it.

Treat it like an analog situation, if you want track seperation... you have your mains, your aux sends.. maybe another one if you are clever.

oh god thank you!

now i was going to buy the crappy digital version but the dude had some other deal so i had to wait for like 4 days... sometimes i think there is a god... only sometimes though (at my convenience).
But i was hoping you would reply camn. the mixtreme is the perfect example; does it have like 16 inputs for tdif or whatever or just one with some sort of multicable?

that was my question as i was thinking i had to buy a card with the promix.... seemed really cool with the 16 preamp inputs and dynamic range of plus 100 ...
ah well, thanks for saving my ass
