Hey guys this is my first post on here. Im tired of not getting answers on gearslutz, so hopefully i can get answers on here. Ok so i have a tascam dm 3200 mixer. i have my monitor gain at 12 o clock. i have my tascam hooked up to my mac via the firewire interface card. i have everything at unity, the channel faders that im running the audio through. the master fader is up. then i turn the control volume up and its normal. after awhile the audio will drop and ill have to turn it all the way up to hear it again at normal volume. I've brought it down to the control room section of the board. its not the interface, or my computer because im still seeing signal on the board and on the master meter. I've hooked my monitors up to a different interface and they work fine. and if i plug in headphones in the control room sectin of the mixer it does the same thing. so its defintely the control section itself. any help here?

Sounds like an issue with the board. I have no experience with any of your gear, but a drop in volume is either a mistaken automation, or failure of gear. Usually it is user mistake.

Does this happen with every input/output source?

Eliminate everything on the way to the problem. Find the source by discounting each piece of your input/output signal chain consecutively.

yes ive done this. I've checked every setting on the board. i ran diagnostics on it, and I've even done a fsctory reset. still happens. sometimes it dont happen for months sometimes a few days. sometimes it goes on for days. there is also white noise in the signal sometimes. im pretty sure its the board. i just wanna know what is this a sign of. wire short out? damaged connection, damaged ribbon cable? im pretty sure this would apply to any mixer because the control room section is analog

ok so ive opened it up and im looking at the master section pcb which has the trs connection and the control room gain on it. i dont see any loose wires or anything. everything looks good. is there any specific thing i should be looking for that could cause distortion and reduced levels?
