Digital drum sounds without drum machine?

Please forgive my ignorance and try to look past it. I don't know how to play drums. I need drums for my recordings. I know I can get a drum machine and program my own patterns, but I'm not too keen on doing it. Is it possible to use software to arrange wave files into patterns and use these for a drum track? Is there software available to make this task easier? Obviously, I don't want to spend a ton of money...like to stay below $100 if possible. Can somebody point me in the right direction? I don't mind doing my own research, but I don't really know where to start.

Thanks...

what about drumkit from hell 2? It's £90 here And you can probably find it cheaper if you shop around.

Is this software a stand-alone system? I can't seem to tell from the description. No MIDI controller needed? Can I assemble patterns and send them through an output into the mixer to be recorded, ect?

Seems pretty cool if that's what it does...
