Hey guys. I use a Dr. 770 and I was wondering if anyone out there has any tips to make the cymbals a little more realistic sounding. Do you guys add any effects for work with some certain EQ to get rid of that obvious drum machine sound?

Reverb will help. The problem with those samples is the way they were recorded. When you record a drumset, you don't mic each individual cymbal. The cymbals are part of a space. That is what you need to do to make them sound more real.

It also helps if you don't have them up very loud and make sure that you aren't using the same cymbal for every hit.

Record your own samples if you can too. And mess with the volume on each "hit".
