So I have a vox valvetronix VT40+ witch is a bit of a step away from the JTM45 I normally use but whatever.
now I know you should always mic amps if you can because analogue sound, mic placement, room, and blah blah blah. so I was wondering is; is it worth it to mic the vox amp or because it's an digital amp should I just get my sound straight form pod-farm

well that's actually an interesting question which I think can only be answered by trying out both ways and see which sounds better.

Yes .... the Valvetronix is a modeler but it does have circuitry going thru a 12ax7 which is being used as a pseudo power tube to get an actual reactive response.
So it's going to sound different than just it's modeling cicuitry would sound on it's own.
Whether that's gonna beat some of the modern software amp sims is another question. And isn't POD farm kinda mid level soundwise?
I'm just not sure which is gonna work best especially not knowing your tastes in music.

I'd spend a couple of days trying out all the possibilities and recording them so you can make an informed decision.

Micing the amp will sound different than using pod farm or even the direct out of the vox (assuming there is one). Its really up to personal preference which one is closer to the sound you are after.

Personally, i like to send all the pod sounds through a power amp and speaker so I can Mic it up. It puts a little "air" in the recording and reacts to mix processing the way Im used to.

I'VE tried both.

i just found both incredibly.... uninspiring.
