is it full-duplex (which i understand is needed to be able to monitor what is being recorded)?

you can record and monitor 18 tracks at once - if your computer can handle it (which almost any P4 with 512 RAM should be able to). the only problem is you may have to set the playback buffer a little high (maybe 512) so they'll be noticable latency - not too much, but it might bug you.

i just read that it is not compatible with AMD chips!!!!! Is this true?

LOL.. where'd you read that?

Not even digidesign's own website says that.

It is not "compatible" with certain chipsets (some of which are for AMD processors.) It is also not "tested" and "proven" on certain other chips (both Intel and AMD) but this is mostly for older/cheaper chipsets/CPU's.

I'm running digi001 right now on an Athlon 2800+.

Im pretty sure that the Digi-001 does NOT support fullduplex mode. I have tried to configure Battery for use with My digi-001 and it always says "Soundcard does NOT support fullduplex mode". I know it sucks!!

MM- are you using the ASIO driver with that? I use the 002 via ASIO with Cubase and never got a full duplex error. May be a setting where either the inputs or outputs are not fully enabled.

I believe that I am using the ASIO driver. Thats the one that I always download so I can play songs from Kazaa thru my pro Tools setup right? Without it I couldnt do that right?
I dont know. It just always says that it doesnt support FDM...

can anyone confirm the full-duplex limitations of the digi001? if so, what are the alternatives? isn't being able to monitor what is being recorded an important part of the recording process?!

You can definitely monitor what is being recorded. Live... Real-Time... with plug-ins... etc.

you can moniter exactly what is being recorded as well as exactly what has been recorded. all effects and edits will also be played back. you can record 18 tracks at a time and listen to all 32 (the digi 001 max.) tracks as well - and all the midi that may have been used.
