Which would be your pick of the better soundcard; the Digidesign or M-Audio? Is there really that much of a difference in sound quality? If so how much?

The thing is that I love ProTools software, and I can't find other programs that I like. I've tried Sonar, Cool Edit, Cubase, Vegas. I have NOT tried E-magic because they do not give out free trial versions, though I am wanting to see how it's like.

I can only use a PC for recording.

Tell me what's on your mind!!

Thanks! ;)

if your using pro tools go for the digi 001, ive heard its excellent, and i think quite a bit more money than the delta, so, probably better quality. Ive been told its converters are up to par with the motu 896, and the 896 is better than the delta 44.
so, yea, digi 001.
but, remember it only works with protools, so if you switch your sqrewd.

thats an unfair comparison..you know the delta 44 doesn't compare to the digi001....
yea the converters in it are better.. what do you expect when your paying more than 500 more..

as for the digi001..the converters it has aren't close to the motu 896's... the digi is ok, but it doesn't sound better than the Rme multiface, Layla24, Delta 1010....system 3000

look into one of the cards i just mentioned...and run SX,Sonar 2, samplitude or what ever you fell good with....

RME Multiface is $675 without software
Layla24 is $660 without software
Delta 1010 is $550 without software

Cubase SX is $579
Sonar XL is $369

There's an M-Audio Bundle of the 1010 and SonarXL for $875 (saves you $44 on this combo)

Digi001 with Pro Tools LE is $800

I think the Digi converters sound MUCH better than the MOTU converters, and I know a lot of people agree with me; however, the systems listed above do have better converters than the 001, and it's especially apparent if you work at higher bit rates.

Umm, didn't he say he LOVES Pro Tools, and he can't find other software tha he likes?
