Hello everyone.

I have bought a used RME DIGI 9636/52 soundcard for wiring my desk up with the computer through 3 x ADA8000's.

But I can't seem to get anything through the system. Right now I have plugged the two optical cables from adat1 i/o to the ADA8000 i/o but all I get is nothing or loud noise if I'm lucky. There no input either. The ADA8000 clock is set to slave / adat in. Here's a screendump of the settings

Also I find it very strange that my ADAT-connections apparently are mirrored to the manual. The manual says "1 in 1 out, 2 in 2 out" but my synccheck says adat 1 when I'm plugging it into adat 2 (according to the manual).

Heres a screendump of the chkdigi-software showing the meters

I have a constant noise coming out of 1+2 no matter what

Can someone tell me what to do? I am about to go mad, and I think I've tried almost everything, and I'm on the edge of saying that there's something wrong with either the ada8000 or the rme-card.

Thanks in advance!

Simon

What kind of noise are you getting. If a lightpipe cable is simply pinched or not fully connected it can generate noise. I run that sound card with cubase with some 2408's and never had a problem. Here is what my setup looks like. RME Setup

yeah

I get -40db white noise on every channel. I went out to a friends place to test the ADA8000 and my cables, nothing wrong there. What do I do?

Have you tried switching the card to a different pci slot in your box, also switch adat to different banks instead of just "A". Have you ever seen it work. Do you know/trust the guy that sold it to you.

That's the problem.

I've tried all the adat i/o's, but I haven't tried different pci-slots. I'll do that now as i format and reinstall everything

inspect the card carefully, see if there are any scratches or chips on the pci side of the card.
