digi 003=unknown device under tiger?

hi all,

sorry to hassle you with this, but i've searched the net and info seems sparse,

my nice shiny digi 003 factory arrived the other day. Split new, with software etc.

followed the procedures, installed the protools that came with it (7.3 le),plugged it in, set it up and it worked, believe it or not.

i'm running osx 10.4.8 (although i used it under xp also),

so any way, i go to bed, happy with my purchase,,,get up this morning,,,fire up the system and there it is "system profiler -> unknown firewire device"

so i turn the digi off and on,,,,nothing,
i reboot and make sure i do the right power on sequence, cos i know protools is fussy.
still nothing,

i uninstall protools(completely,,,drivers,plugins,the heap), unplug the digi, reboot,,,,reinstall protools,,,,plug te digi back in, and it's still an unknown device!!


it just shows me the usual unknown firewire device, speed 400mb/s, manufacturer unknown etc etc

there doesnt seem to be a specific driver installer package on the disc, although its protools le 7.3 for digi 003.

there is NO way the unit is broken,,,cos like,,,,i just set it down,,plugged it in,,,,,and it hasn't been moved since.

is there anything stupid im missing??? i'm fairly new to macs.

Mac OS is telling you it's an unknown device?

does PTLE start up?
 
yeh,it's unknown device under system profiler.

protools starts but get's to the stage of "digi hardware not connected"

digi core audio app displays "digi 003 hardware not connected"
 
ok nm people,,,,i gave up and went away for a while,

came back and booted up and there it is,,workin,just fine.

hate these things that fix themselves with no reason,,cos then you're always waiting on the next time it decides to not work,

anyway,while i'm here,, the digi 003 has a change bank function so i control 9-16 instead of 1-8 etc,

but when i change to 9-16 or 17-24,,the counter and playback line return to zero.

if i click anywhere on the time line, it reqinds to zero very quickly.

if i change bank to bank one with the digi003 arrow key (contolling tracks 1-8 again) all functions return to normal.

any heads up on this? again,i've been googling and what not, but to no avail.
