...
hi all,,

not sure if this should go elsewhere,, but i'm having a minor hardware issue.

i have a digi 003 console which was bought new, and can't be more than a year and a half old.

everything about it is perfect, but

every time i power it on, the first time i unmute, and adjust the main output volume, i get this huge static crackle in the left speaker.(like a faulty pot on old gear)

i have mackie hr624s and the sound is exactly like plugging in/out the lead while the speakers on (did that once,,,,d'oh)

anyway, it only happens a few times, so what i do is turn the volume knob a few times with mute on,,,,,so i hear no static or whatever,,,,
then when i unmute, everything is fine,

but,,i kinda want to know what's wrong.....incase it gets worse and i damage a speaker or something...

sound familiar to anyone??

thanks all.

I've had similar issues with my setup, but it seems to me that it's more of a Pro Tools issue than a hardware issue...I'll get a very brief static noise on some random track (causing it to clip). Happens sporadically and I have yet to notice a definite pattern with it...I am concerned about damaging my speakers too.

sadly mine's definitely a hardware issue, with a definite pattern,,

but with yours,,

the chances are it's down to your settings..

go to options-playback engine

increase your buffer size, and if that doesn't work, uncheck 'ignore errors during playback/record'

I'll try that...I've messed with the buffer size a bit (I usually decrease when recording and increase during editing/mixing) but I've never unchecked the "ignore error" box. Thanks for the suggestion. Hope you find some solutions for your issue too!

gonna bring this back to life if no one minds,,,,,

has any one experienced this on any digi products??

thanks.
