i used to use one of those,,,and admittedly had a bit of trouble with it,
you have to get a hold on a driver package before the digi001 will be supported by 3rd party apps like media player etc.
once you get that, as far as i know windows still says no default audio device, but under media player / dvd player etc menus, you can select digi 001 emulated output.
i think its digidesign wavedriver you're looking for.
be careful though, they do a standalone version for users who don't wish to use protools.
if you have the manual, there are details about the wave driver with it.
i think its meant to be on the protools cd, but in my case it wasnt.
