hi

I am programming drums straight into cakewalk using the percussion staff. this works ok, except I would like to know ALL drum notation, as drum notation is not as simple as other musical notation! there are different sounds, for example, in the same place on the stave and with the same symbol! eg. two different snare sounds at the C2 position. someonw pls help!

i am also looking for any cool/interesting drum modules... any ideas?
thanks!

Cakewalk has its own system, in conventional drum notation there is one line for the snare which gives you one sound unless its ghosted (in parentheses). If I recall correctly, cakewalk gives 2 options for a snare sound, high and low. The best way to write good drum parts in notation is to learn to play the drums. :)

I see what you mean...

I've never tried using the percussion staff until just now, and your right about the 2 different sounds on the same note line...interesting. I found that the easiest way program drums in CW is in the piano roll, and it shows you most of the drum sounds and gives you more sounds to use than the percussion staff does. Then if you want to you can go over and see how it looks in the staff view, if that's what your used to using.

Hope this helps
