Hey, I'm new here so not sure if this is the right place for this post!

I'm on a Music Tech course at uni and I'm rewriting my notes after my lecture earlier. The lecturer spoke to us about different types of outputs (direct, group, main and monitor, to be exact) and was wondering if anybody could explain a bit further as to what the difference between them all is?

And before you ask, I had to leave straight away otherwise I'd have missed my train and I won't be seeing him again until Friday. I figured I'd probably get a quicker response from here :P

Thanks!

You would probably get them even faster with Google. ;)

Basically, they are all outputs that come from different sources/sections of a typical mixing console.
What is routed to each of those sections is often specific to each console....but generally speaking, direct is right off the channel input, a fold-back of the input to the channel....group is the combination of channels that are assigned to a given group...main is well, the main stereo bus....and monitor is what would feed your studio monitors.

To get more specific details, you have to talk about a specific console.
