DIfferent types of fiberglass

So i've been reading around and it looks like fiberglass is widely used for soundproofing/acoustical treatment.... but i'm confused as to what you can use.. because i know theres the pink fiberglass insulation..but there's also the fiberglass used for plumbing that's almost like padding....

can they both be used?

I believe the prevailing wisdom is to use the high-density stuff. it is far more effective across the spectrum than the fluffy pink stuff.

Look for things like Owens Corning 703 and equivalent by other mfgers.
