differences between SD & LD?

What are the sound differences between SD and LD condensors? Also, what applications are each used for?

Small diaphram mics are a bit more responsive to fast transients due to thieir smaller mass and are more suited to things like acoustic intruments, drum overheads and such. Large diaphram mics have a resonent frequency that's a little more sympathetic to the human voice and are more suited to that task. Neither is mutually exclusive though as you can use either for anything and get very good results.
