The NS10 is the upright version with the original "consumer" tweeter, the NS10m is the horizontal version with the revised "dampened" tweeter.

not possible, unless the drivers were mounted in a new (and MUCH bigger) enclosure. NS10s in a stock enclosure could not house an 18" woofer.

Those are NOT 18" woofers -- those are the stock 6" woofers in the picture. They aren't large speakers. Also -- those are the original consumer version - upright placement - it may or may not have the extra tweeter damping. I may be wrong on the model numbers as mentioned above. The "M" may mean a consumer version with the tweeter mod. The horizontal studio version had an "S" in the model number, if I recall.

The other thing is I'm not sure why you'd want them -- there are so many better options available now. I've used NS10s for several years and they're absolutely horrible to my ears.

you still see alot of these in large studios. i thought i would just use them for A/B ing stuff. you dont really want monitors that sound "good". you want them to be a true rep. of the real world, right? ;)

NS10's aren't a "true rep" of anything at all...... IMO, they're harsh, grainy sounding with mushy bass.

By all means get them, but it sounds like you're buying them more for the hype (which is completely unwarranted) than because of any sonic benefit you'll get from them.

For the price, it's not like you'd lose much - just don't be surprised at how unimpressed you'll be when you hear something on them.......

I would check out Yorkville YSM1 or Tannoy Reveals (they have both powered and unpowered version).

Even the Tannoy Proto-J will give you better results than the NS10's!

with the reveals, would i get enough bass response? the only go down to 62hz. that is probably at -10db .

That's more bass than you'd ever have heard on the NS10s!

You really should try to audition a bunch of them at a local retailer. Only *your* ears can make the decision!

well, just bought some reveal passives. well see how they work out. their response looks really flat. i will let you know how i like em.

they have a 7'' woofer and 1.3'' tweeter
the 18 is refering to the measure in cm
it a 18cm woofer

It seems The newb knows monitors...you can learn from him Bear...:D

theres also the NS10MC which is a version that has a mounting kit...they are popular with the engineers that do surround work.

You're right.... I was going to pick up a pair of ADAMs, but maybe I should just get the NS10s instead.......!!!!!!!! :p

:D :D
