I know information about xlr, but what is trs. what size is the cord, 1/4 1/8 does it have pins and which is better, xlr or trs. will trs go into my computer sound card. Thanks
Oh yeah can someone please answer my topic under mixing/mixdown on "should i get a mixer"
thanks again

TRS stands for Tip Ring Sleeve. It is a 1/4" connector. It looks exactly like the 1/4" jack on High Quality stereo headphones. In contrast,a guitar cable is a TS,or Tip Sleeve. The differeence is that a TRS can be used for Balanced cable runs,Wheras the TS can only run unbalanced, therefore they(TRS) can be used in the same applications as XLR connectors. They can also be used in 1 end of a send/return insert cable, the other end of which would be 2 TS jacks,to "send" your signal to a device such as a compressor from the insert on a mixer's channel.1 end of this cable goes in the mixer, the 2 jacks on the other end go to the input and output of the device, forming a loop.Check the Mackie website,Cheers!

Are there electric guitars that use TRS? I would imagine these might come in handy in concert (long cables) and such. I've always wondered why there are three basic types of cables, when at most we only need two (TRS and XLR). Hell, we only need one, but then folks would start phantoming their strats...

My 2 cents

I know some rickenbacher's use trs...but they are more for stereo than balancing. But i don see why not.

XLR also has those cool locking tabs to keep the cable from dislodging from the jack.
