Difference between VC1Qcs and VC1Q?
I can’t find a reference on the meek web site to the VC1Q non cs but I know there were two models. cs I believe stands for current sensing (some kind of automatic input impedances setting?) Is the cs bad, does it get in the way or screw up the sound? Thanks for any help and clarification,
Frank Military

The current sense thing is supposed to eliminate impendance mismatching, and make it possible to run extremely long cables between mic and preamp. It is a IC-design however, and the non-cs version has a transformer instead, and is supposed to sound slightly better. I have the cs model and am very happy with it.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Any tips on using the VC1q? I just got one from ebay. Frank

I have the VC1 (pre-PMI) and can only say I love the sound and the opto-compressor. If they changed the design and sound, I don't know. I use the VC1 on Bass and keyboards mainly. I sometimes use it for vocals depending on how the voice sounds. The VC1 really sounds good on female singers that have a thinnish voice. Thin sounding male vocals do great also (like Phil Collins).

you can use another preamp and go in the insert on the vc1q and use the compressor---works great :)

Excellent tip
