Difference between SM57/58 and Beta 57/58

The subject pretty much says it all....just wondering what the difference is between these types of mic's (other than price, that is :) I know this is obvious to most, but I'm pretty new to this.

I think you can find that info on the Shure website, I think. I feel the general overall consensus though, is to stick with the SM for the 57s and the Beta for 58s.
 
Now I'll elaborate since I noticed you said you're new:

I've not heard a SM and Beta 57 next to eachother to compare myself, but most of the people I've talked to say there's next to no diffeence between the two; and those who say there is say it's sure not worth the up to $70US difference. You could buy nearly two SMs for the price of one Beta.

As far as 58s, I have to say I'd go for the Beta. It has a lot more output. I noticed a huge difference and it's sure worth it.
 
Thanks. That's good to know, because I am considering the 57. I knew I could find it on their website, but I wanted to hear from someone who doesn't have an interest in whether or not I buy it. :)
