Difference between DPM3 & Mackie VLZ preamps?

I have a Mackie 1202VLZ that's my best preamp right now. I've read that the DPM3 is very good here and just saw another positive review elsewhere. I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with both of those preamps and can advise if there's a big (or subtle) difference between the two?

This is for low budget home recording (mxl v67 & 603s > mackie 1202 > ADAT). Thanks!

Not a ton of difference. The dmp-3 might be a little better on quiet sources or low-output mics where you need a lot more gain than normal.

Mackie might have a little more headroom on louder sources, though.
