Spread the Daf!
Mine got me an Akai Headrush ( a very cool delay unit ) and a Marshall MG15 for my studio. Earlier Christmases and birthdays have brought me a POD.......a Rocktron Talkbox.....a nice acoustic........a Mackie 808M........a VPI record cleaning machine and a DAT walkman.
Now that's a very cool wife who "gets it."

Not for christmas (she did get me a POD for my birthday). Her daughter did give me a Taylor T shirt that was pretty cool.

Not actually Bob, but she did let me spend much more bucks on my gear these last two months. I change the pickups, got DiMarzio. But most I spent on maintenance. You know, new Strings (for one bass, 6 guitars, and one violin), Cable stuff, Pedals, mixer & system maintenance, etc... It will be more thru March '03. She's getting more understanding about what it takes to be home recorders...

I buy my own guitars & stuff.

I give it to myself on my birthday & holidays, and act as if someone else got it for me. Haha. I guess it's a show for my kids. My wife will buy me a nice little something, but she's smart enough to leave the gear buying to me. She has no clue about instruments and gear, and very little interest in it. I'm sure she wouldn't know what to buy. She wouldn't know what size strings I use, picks, what kind of guitars I like, etc,... she doesn't have a clue about musical instruments & stuff. She buys me nice gifts, etc, but she wouldn't buy music gear. Nice idea, though.

yes......a used l.p. studio....
but it is suuuweeeeet!!!...
plus if it was new id be all worried about jumpin all over the studio when i play it......and the "lighter fluid" ..incedent....

stop drop and roll

not really

last yea she got me a dano dbl neck ...this year i played santa myself and bought myselfa hot rails for th strat ...so far it's been merry

Actually, allmost.
In November I was in this store aiming for a Standard Squire, had almost decided on one, when I "accidentally" picked up a Fender Telecaster and tried it out. It was a lot more expensive and looked, felt and sounded really beautiful. She looked at me and said: "You really ought to put some more money into it." She promised me I could buy a guitar for up to $1000. Still looking for the right one.

Musicrelated stuff for Christmas? I got a real good music stand and a guitarstrap. She's great at picking up things I need but never buy my self.

my wife and my mother pitched in together and had my '66 fender strat professionally refreted and refinished in lake placid blue.

(the one from the "gray strat with rebel flag guard" thread)

i am VERY happy with it
man, i didn't know it was possible for a strat to play this good..all i can say is WOW!

ohhh santa claus is so good to me

Dano dbl neck's cool, man. Double necked guitars are so indulgent & wacky of an idea.

Was it the standard/baritone or 6-str/12-str?

sure was

yep 6/12 at th time it was my 13th or 14th since had a tele and a strat ...how indulgent is that ....got rd of th tele but when mars closed in charlotte they had some bodies for like 50$'s so i got another tele i'm building

Three years ago I was the proud recipient of a new Seagull SJ-6 acoustic from my wife! It totally rekindled my interest in playing guitar.... I've since gone insane and bought up several electrics and a bass and a Tascam and a Trademark 10 and a ......

One of those special moments in life :-)

I decided to buy myself a x-mas present. I ordered a Heritage 575 and am putting a bunch of custom things into it, such as ebony fingerboard, tree of life inlays, black hardware, hrw pickups and a few other things I can't remember at the moment. Should get it in April. That's the one thing that gets me down, but I know it will be a saweeeet guitar.

Well. In November I got a Birthday/Christmas present. It was a Yamaha Pacifca604w in cherry burst with sperzel locking tuners and a Wilkinson VS100 bridge, but then she went and bought me a Yamaha RBX-270 bass guitar for Christmas. She knew I had been looking at one for the home studio setup and she bought it.

Nah!
What I do is this.
I buy her one for Christmas!!!

So what if she doesn't play, at least she lets me borrow it. ;)

Ernie Ball Petrucci with the piezo pick-ups...

This is number two...number one didn't have the piezo. I just gotta love her now!

I got a Home Depot gift certificate. 40 year old house: priority one, guitar stuff: priority 40.

She did get me an Ibanez acoustic for my birthday, God I love that thing.

Can't complain!!

My gals the best! I have 15 guitars hanging on my wall...
but when she sees me in GC with that dreamy look in my eyes as I play some slick new beast she says "honey, just buy it". She actually argues if I tell her it costs $2500 and suggests I put it on lay-away.

This year she was gonna get me a globe made of semi-precious stones. Nice and all of course, but she ended up getting me a new soundcard.

My main squeeze bought me a new Lowden about a month before Christmas, so that counts I guess. What a guy, it has improved my playing immensely, and I can barely put it down. Now to convince him I need better recording stuff. ;)
