I know, Mackie are supposed to be bad, but I have found it fairly impressive so far, the only trouble being it is a little too "cold". I am looking for something warmer sounding, and would prefer single channel pres than a mixer with built in EQ as I tend to prefer recording dry.
I hear the DMP3 is a clean sounding pre, would there be a discernable difference in quality between it and the Mackie pres, and are the VLZ pres better than their lower-end mixers, such as the DFX12?
