Here is a sample of my meager recording technique. This is like the first night we played this tune so keep that in mind while listening.
What I do is send everything to my 16ch mixer and send one output to my laptop runing Cool Edit Pro. I record a mono signal. I use effects on the vocals and a seperate effect on the snare. The kick has a gate on it.
After recorded, I split it to two tracks with Cool Edit Pro, pan one channel hard left, the other hard right. Then I offset the right a few milliseconds to give it a nice stereo feel.
It comes out pretty good for just recording band rehearsals.
