Dear All,

Please help!

I am relatively new to all this Computer recording business and I have a problem.

Having recently purchased a Creative Sound Blaster 5.1, I am getting such bad latency whilst trying to record Guitars or mics.

Its is currently around a 1 Second delay which is making the whole process completely unusable.

Any advice would be greatly received as I feel I am so close to getting it all working but so far away.

Cheers,

Nothernmonkey.

Hi
The problem is the soundcard and its drivers, they are not good enough to give you low latency. I expect if you are using Cubase them you are getting a 750ms delay. Your best option is to turn off monitoring and stand next to yourself when you play so that you can hear yourself. Thats what we all did before low latency cards came around.

There are, aledgedly, some cracked drivers for the SB Live which get the latency down to about 30ms - if you search around on this forum im sure you'll find a mention of them. Its either that or get your self a card designed for recording rather than games (thats not meant to sound snobish, its just the truth)

If you're interested then check out my web site.

Cheers
