Hi,

I'm in a quandary as what to do/get next. Basically I need a new desk as the one I'm using at the moment, which is 13 years old is a bit tired. On it I've got my KRKr6, an Axiom 61 and that's it, so there's no other space at all.

Done lots of reading, and it seems monitor stands are the way to go as is having the monitors at tweeter/ear height.

So I'm thinking shall I get a new desk and monitor stands or would getting a large desk (160cm by 80cm) and placing the monitors on rubber mat, bricks, then mopads work too? Either way the monitors are going to be further apart from each other and won;t be at an equal distance in regards to the equilateral triangle.

When placing the monitors, there is supposed to be equal distance and angles between you and the monitors. Though how far away can the the monitors be from each other?

I tried the Samson ms200, really couldn't get on with them and sent them back.

Thanks

He posted some info in the studio building forum some time ago and he has step by step info on how to make $10 stands, has some nice DIY desks, etc.

As far monitor distance from each other i think it may depend on the size of the room and whether you're using nearfield monitors.
