standalone recorders are better for recording as far as stability and setup and not being as finicky as a computer....
but computers rule for editing and dsp effects.....
combining both is an awesome experience....nothing can really come close (outside of 2" tape) to ADAT's for recording, dumping to the computer for editing,mixing, and mastering......
but for guys like us recording one track at a time, computers can be plenty stable enuff....as soon as you get it running
