Hi

Im pretty clueless here....I just got a delta 66 sound card with the small break out box for my 400mhz mac G3....I think Ive got the card in OK but the system profiler thing doesnt list any real detailed information for what is in this PCI slot so I really dont even know if its in right.

It came with some form of Logic Audio which is kind of confusing since the Delta66 manual doesnt offer any specifics as far as s/pdif information for Logic...

Here comes a series of even dumber questions:

I dont have any preamps or midi interfaces yet...I just want to plug a guitar into one of the inputs and record a track just to see if this thing works or not...plus ive got nothing coming out of the 4 outputs ie no monitors or headphones....it wont play through the computer will it without some kind of additional connection will it? For example when i load up the logic demo songs they play but no sound is produced....

well i am really in the dark here and would appreciate kind replies before i just chuck the thing and get a standalone again!

thank you

Try This

I have a video card in one of my macs, The system profiler doesn't list alot of info for that. It just says not available in some spots. If it is showing something in that slot, it's probably no big deal. Try some cans and see if you can hear anything through them. Or if you don't have any headphones you could hook your guitar up, and if it's recording the guitar it will show a waveform. Now, just hooking your guitar to the soundacrd will probably not sound to good. You should mic an amp or something. but you have to have some sort of speakers hooked to the soundcard, as your macs sound is controlled by that now. Atleast where your logic audio is concerned.

Thanks for your advice...I seem to be making some progress with it. Do you know of anything that has a midi interface as well as some preamps or maybe just one...I want to record one track at a time with a midi contoller as well as bass and guitar...right now I am having problems having the tracks I record play back...only the first one i record will play back..i am getting some monitors next week so maybe this will help as now I am sending to a cheap boom box ...ahh someday I will learn!
