Some simple questions I'm having problems finding answers too.

First, for the Delta1010.. I notice 8 ins, 8 outs... On some competitor cards, they have x ins and x outs, and also a pair of monitor outs.

Where do a set of monitors go in the Delta?

Second, apart from the Delta's I/O, Does the card have any other function?

for instance... does it offload any processing from the CPU to the card?.

i.e. I keep hearing the term "digital mixer". Does this mean the card processes all mixer functions in your recording software such as sonar or logic? Or as soon as its recorded, its all up to your CPU to handle the rest?

Cards from ST Audio carring the branding "DSP24" ... does the "DSP" part of that name hold any significance to that product?

>On any pair of the outputs. I put mine on outputs 1 and 2 for no particuliar reason.

>Not really. Depending on what part of processing you mean.

>Mixing is handled by your software multitracker - Nuendo, Cubase, Sonar etc. Your CPU is responsible for the processing.

>Probably stands for Digital Signal Processing.

It's also worth mentioning that Delta has it's own mixer app. that is pretty flexible. You can use it to monitor your *recorded* tracks and *recording* tracks w/ essentially zero latency. Unless you plan on recording many(more than 8- well actually 10 if you count SPDIF) tracks, you can get by just fine w/o any other external mixer. Of course, ext. mixers are handy for other reasons.
