delta omni i/o (delta 66) and cool edit and RNC

hello...

I'll try to make this as unconfussing as possible:

trying to record handclaps inline with my above setup. What did:

1. dynamic mic to input one
2. instert 1 to RNC 'left IN'
3. 'left OUT' of RNC to 'fx return L' on the omni i/o
4. signal compresses, all is well. until...
5. i assign the track in cool edit and...

it won't record.

tried to go directly into the RNC with the mic and return it to the input but no dice.

any help with this signal flow would be great.

If you're going out via the insert, you'll need an insert cable. This will take the return from the rnc back into the insert jack. i don't think coming back into the fx return is going to cut it
